When venturing out into new territory, MC-2 sighting compasses offer precision navigation with a variety of carefully engineered and dependable features for challenging conditions. This MC-2 comes with Metric UTM scales and inch ruler.
The Earth’s magnetic field does not flow evenly between the magnetic poles along the surface of the planet. To compensate for the natural tilt in the magnetic field, Suunto compasses use one of two balancing systems.
This MC-2 uses a unique globally balanced system. A single needle is balanced to work anywhere in the world. This is achieved by a breakthrough construction allowing the needle and magnet to tilt independently.
Adjustable declination correction
Correct the declination between map north (North Pole) and magnetic north for trusted navigation
Stable operation
The compass liquid used by Suunto is specially formulated to provide damping over a large temperature range while preventing the needle from sticking.
Mirror for more
The mirror on a compass serves the dual purpose of allowing you to sight bearings accurately and facilitating signaling by reflecting sunlight.
Accurate bearings
Sighting hole and notch in a compass facilitate precise navigation by allowing you to align the compass with distant landmarks and obtain accurate bearings.
Integrated clinometer
The clinometer is useful in uneven terrain where you need to determine slope gradient to pinpoint your exact location. It also helps to measure altitude.
Detachable snap-lock lanyard
The lanyard with wristlock is easy to detach for working with the map.
